Imperfect Team

Our Story

Imperfect was born out of a shared vision between two students at 42 Québec. Olivier Boucher, our CEO, had a dream: to create a dating app that defied the norms, an app that wasn’t based on superficial criteria but one where true love could be found. To bring this vision to life, he reached out to Alexandre Couture, now our CTO, who was equally passionate about building something meaningful. Together, they embarked on a journey to create a space where authenticity reigns supreme, and people can find love by embracing their true selves.

We offer a space where users are free to be themselves, without judgment, because everyone on our platform puts their imperfections upfront. In relationships, we often know what we don’t want but rarely focus on what we truly need. This is why authenticity and trust are at the forefront of Imperfect.

As the COO, I focus on optimizing our operations and developing strategies for growth. I ensure that Imperfect runs efficiently and is well-positioned for success in the competitive dating app market.

Our Journey

Our journey began with a different idea centered around love languages. Olivier Boucher and Alexandre Couture were excited as they started developing the concept. However, when we shared the project at 42 Québec, Olivier Drolet St-Cyr expressed interest in joining our team. His first task was to check if our concept was trademarked, and sure enough, it was. This discovery led us to pivot, and that’s how Imperfect was born.

We participated in a business competition called Face aux dragons and emerged as runner-ups, which fueled our determination. Later, we connected with Metah Nomis, a well-established branding agency that believed in our concept. They generously offered their services pro bono, allowing us to create a beautiful and distinctive brand identity. Now, we are in the final stages, preparing for the beta release scheduled for early 2025.

Our Future

Our immediate goal is to become the go-to dating app in our native region, Montreal, Quebec. Once Imperfect proves itself as the next big thing, we plan to expand to Toronto, Ottawa, and eventually conquer the U.S. market. We’re committed to growing Imperfect into a platform that changes the way people approach dating, one genuine connection at a time.

Why "Imperfect"?

The name "Imperfect" was inspired by the realization that we are all imperfect in our own ways. It’s a nod to the great scene in Good Will Hunting, where Robin Williams’ character fondly remembers his late wife’s little quirks—the things only he knew and loved about her. Those idiosyncrasies are what made her special to him. At Imperfect, we believe that it’s these very imperfections that make us uniquely lovable.
